That night, Hannah was the only one that slept soundly. The others were rattled by the day’s events and could not stop tossing and turning throughout the night.
The next morning, Hannah rose, changed, and stepped out with a smile.
Downstairs for breakfast, she bumped into Elsa and her group of friends.
Elsa looked like she’d been crying all night as her eyes were quite puffy.
Spotting Hannah, Elsa abandoned her food. “Let’s go!”
Her posse followed suit, shooting daggers at Hannah before scramming.
Hannah shrugged it off and dug into her breakfast, unfazed.
Mid-meal, Maloney piped up, “Hey, you haven’t finished your breakfast yet?”
Hannah shot her a glare. “If you want to lose your tongue, then keep it up.”
Maloney chuckled. “Look at you, you’re a feisty one. Remember, Mr. Mitchell…”
“Ahem!”
Seeing the housekeeper approach, Maloney halted and said, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
“Sure thing, Mr. Pierce.”

Once breakfast arrived, Maloney struck up a casual chat with Hannah.
“The race day’s here. How are you feeling?”
Setting her oatmeal aside, Hannah dabbed her mouth. “I’m more prepped than you. You’ll just be trailing behind, or maybe sit this one out.”
Knowing Hannah’s sass, Maloney couldn’t resist a jab. He chuckled.
“Don’t underestimate me, alright?”
“I’ll be topping today’s race. Bet on it if I’m in.”
Hannah shot him a glance. “You’ll probably go broke. I’m up first.”
At the garage, someone trailed behind Hannah. “You Miss Moore?”
Hannah popped the car hood, then turned to the newcomer. “Who’s asking?”
“I’m with the racing crew. Your track’s changed due to Mr. Delgado’s mishap.”
Handing Hannah a tablet, the supervisor pointed to the red track.
